In the 1265 and 1365, very little was considered in need of change or improvement. Most everything from the 1255 and 1355 was carried over. The exception to this, however, was the FWA axle and transfer case for the four wheel drive tractors. More on these front axles in a later article.
The 1265 was given an increased bore to 100MM (3.94") from 95MM (3.74") over the 1255. This resulted in a 158 cubic inch displacement, and raised it's power to 41 Certified PTO horsepower. Practically everything else remained the same from the earlier 1255 tractor. At serial number 310481, however, the 1265 was upgraded with the inverted 'U' front axle, that itself a result the 1265 now being sourced from the new Fiat 480 tractor. Everything else remained virtually the same, other than a new 'float' position provision for the three point hitch. This was particularly useful for semi-mounted implements.
The new 1365 also was given a 5mm bore increase from 95MM to 100MM, and consequently increased the cubic inch capacity to 211 cubic inches. From this extra 21 cubic inches over the earlier 1355, the 1365 cranked out 55 Certified PTO horsepower. Everything else in the early model 1365 remained the same as the 1355.
At serial number 460528, however, the Fiat 600 version of the 1365 was discontinued, and the Fiat 640 took it's place. From this change in origin, the 1365 received a new, heavier duty, 7 bolt crankshaft, flywheel, rear main seal, and rear main seal retainer. The flange for the flywheel increased in diameter from 95MM to 110MM, and the outside diameter of the rear main seal increased to 135MM from 120MM.
